Are you passionate about improving air quality and fighting for environmental justice in the Mon Valley? Do you want to take action to help make our community healthier, safer, and more vibrant? If so, we invite you to join one of Valley Clean Air Now’s (VCAN) dynamic committees!

Our committees are the driving force behind our work. They allow members of our community to actively contribute their skills, knowledge, and passion to create real change. By joining a committee, you will collaborate with other dedicated volunteers, help shape local policies, and be vital to VCAN’s mission.

Our Committees:

1. Communications Committee

Are you a great communicator, writer, or social media expert? Please help us spread the word about the importance of clean air and VCAN’s initiatives! This committee manages VCAN’s social media, website, newsletters, and press outreach.

• Skills Needed: Writing, social media management, public relations, graphic design.

• Time Commitment: Monthly meetings plus project-specific work.

2. Fundraising and Grants Committee

Help fuel VCAN's work by developing and executing fundraising strategies. From organizing community events to securing grants, your work will directly support our projects and advocacy efforts.

• Skills Needed: Event planning, grant writing, donor relations.

• Time Commitment: Monthly meetings and event planning as needed.

3. Research and Policy Committee

If you’re interested in data and policy, this committee is for you. Help collect and analyze environmental data, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for stronger environmental regulations.

• Time Commitment: Monthly meetings, research as needed.

4. Legal Action Committee

If you have legal expertise or an interest in law, this committee plays a vital role in shaping VCAN’s legal strategy and responding to community legal challenges related to environmental justice.

• Time Commitment: Monthly meetings, with occasional casework as needed.

5. Membership and Volunteer Development Committee

Are you skilled at building connections? This committee focuses on expanding our network by engaging new members and volunteers and sustaining donors. Help us grow our impact and mobilize community members.

• Skills Needed: Outreach, networking, volunteer coordination.

• Time Commitment: Monthly meetings and outreach activities as needed.
